21st September 2016: The megastar Amitabh Bachchan today said that the film Pink had become a movement because it gives an opportunity of empowerment for a woman to speak out.
Amitabh Bachchan during a press conference says, “‘Pink’ is no longer perhaps a color. Pink no more connotes the favorite color of a young girl and her Barbie doll. Pink means you have the freedom and liberty to walk at night. Women got the opportunity to speak out through this film.”
He also further said turning to Pink actress Taapsee Pannu quoting, “You know what experiences she went through while traveling in DTC buses but she did not muster the courage to protest. The film will now teach girls like her to go to police station and lodge protest. This is the victory of ‘Pink.'”
Amitabh Bachchan describes the ‘despicable’ stabbing woman in a public view in New Delhi where he said that the people out there are not brave enough to come to help out those victims because of the fear harassment be it in Police stations or courts.
However, the movie Pink tells about encouragement and empowerment for the rights of a woman to lodge any complaints no matter it is day or night hours.
Amitabh Bachchan also added that he would have opened out the same lines like Pink’s crusader Lawyer in real life as well for such a situation adding, “Some things are common everywhere. A Swedish girl wanted to take the film (Pink) to her country. Pink has given rise to such a movement.”
