3rd October 2016: A police officer in Bihar’s Gaya district was shot dead by four unidentified suspects today early morning on a morning walk. This is a second brutal attack on the police officers in the state in the last ten days, says the report.
According to the reports, a police officer who is identified as Mohammad Quamuddidin, the station house officer of the Kothi police station was killed today early morning between 5 AM to 6 AM when the cop was on his way for a morning walk about 107 KM away on the Gaya-Kothi Road, in the capital Patna.
As per the sources revealed that the assailants came on a motorbike and accosted the SHO. These men entered into an argument after which the police officer was shot dead. It is learned that the suspected persons escaped into the forests after killing Mohammad Quamuddidin.
Garima Malik who is the Senior Superintendent of Police of Gaya Police station rushed to the spot and confirmed the incident.
Garima Malik said that “Three or four armed criminals chased the SHO while he was on his morning walk and shot him dead. The police have launched a manhunt and all the border areas have been sealed. We have launched a massive vehicle-checking in the bordering areas of the district.”
It is learned that the SHO Muhammad Quamuddindin have earlier launched an anti-criminal operation in the Maoist-affected area that is to be conducted before the arrival of Dushehra and Muharram festivals.
Since then the SHO have been receiving a life threat in the past. He had also arrested more than a dozen of criminals in connection to the crime during his stint at the Kothi Police station after he joined which was a four month ago. The action taken by the SHO’s in connection to the crime have ragged many feathers.
It is learned that such brutal attack on the police officers is being held for the fourth time in the recent months. In the month of September 24, Ram Raj Chaudhary, an assistant sub-inspector of police, was also shot dead in the area of Fatuha police station area which was the outskirts of Patna. It is expected that those criminals have taken his service revolver, according to the reports.
